Abstract
The language regime of full multilingualism and the European Union’s vocation for integration and democracy imply that large number of translations are carried out within its main institutions. This article analyses the characteristics of EU translation and how it differs from what is considered traditional translation. We also look at the profile of the EU translator and the procedure to be followed to find a job in the EU. Finally, we reflect on the role of translation in the EU, from the point of view of the organisation and of the Member States and their citizens.
