Abstract
The main objective of this qualitative study is to investigate at a descriptive level the parental styles in which the students of the 4th year of the Degree in Social Work and 5th year of the Double Degree in Social Work and Sociology of the Universidad Pablo de Olavide have been educated. For this purpose, 10 semi-structured interviews were carried out, in which the characteristics of the styles and the self-perception of the students about them were taken into account. The research team set out three hypotheses: the predominance of the authoritarian and permissive styles, the tendency to adopt the democratic style in the future and the desire to want to change the parental style(s) received. The results have shown that the first hypothesis is partially confirmed, the second hypothesis is fully confirmed and the third hypothesis is apparently refuted, although certain inconsistencies are revealed.
