Abstract

León de Nicaragua was one of the first cities founded by the Spanish colonizers in Latin America. It boasts an interesting cultural heritage, including an expression of Baroque style visible in its churches, which must be documented for their particular characteristics as models of the Central American baroque. Among them, we can highlight the churches of San Juan Bautista de Sutiaba (1698), La Merced (18th century), and La Recolección (1786).
