AB León de Nicaragua es una de las primeras ciudades fundadas por los españoles en Iberoamérica. Está provista de un interesante patrimonio cultural, entre el cual se identifican iglesias de expresión y contenido barroco que deben ser documentadas por presentar características particulares, y ser referentes del barroco centroamericano. Entre ellas, destacamos las iglesias de San Juan Bautista de Sutiaba (1698), La Merced (s. XVIII) y La Recolección (1786).
AB León de Nicaragua was one of the first cities founded by the Spanish colonizers in Latin America. It boasts an interesting cultural heritage, including an expression of Baroque style visible in its churches, which must be documented for their particular characteristics as models of the Central American baroque. Among them, we can highlight the churches of San Juan Bautista de Sutiaba (1698), La Merced (18th century), and La Recolección (1786).
