Abstract
This paper addresses the concept of the noble city as a Renaissance urban typology and its materialization in the kingdoms of Seville and Córdoba during the Modern Age. With this purpose in mind, I will give a brief insight into the changes and continuities that took place during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in some of the localities we have selected as case studies: Marchena, Baena, and El Carpio. I will pay special attention to the neighbourhoods inhabited by members of the territorial nobility, including their palaces and some of the main religious edifices they founded, contributed to, and chose as their burial grounds (churches, monasteries, convents...).
