Abstract
Making school a safe space for everyone is a challenge for those of us who are dedicated to teacher training, and creating a world where more and more people fit in, from diverse backgrounds, with diverse cultures and different family and personal configurations, will always be a primary objective for teachers. As we have proposed in previous research (Oltra Albiach, 2011; Pardo Coy, 2019), children's literature is always a first-rate ally, since literature itself is a bridge that puts into dialogue that which is diverse. Now, we have proposed a series of activities with students from the Facultat de Magisteri (Universitat de València), based on Ella es mi papá (She is my dad) (2021), about trans fatherhood. Based on the students' opinions on the text and on the activities carried out, we wanted to collect their ideas and beliefs on this issue and, in general, on the treatment of diversity in the classroom, with a surprising result in some cases, which motivates us to continue researching on the students of the Teacher Training degrees and their hopes and fears when it comes to working on diversity in their classrooms.
