Abstract
Solutions and strategies for adaptation to the environment that we have among native american peoples in the construction of their habitat, are diverse and creative. In the case of mountainous territories, indigenous settlements were usually located in the highest, on clear and even abrupt places where you could ensure proper drainage of rainwater, the defense of winds, defense against possible enemies, etc. In the case of peoples who occupied the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, they chose to locate their settlements in the upper reaches of rivers and streams, and their ability to transform the landscape allowed the construction of hundreds of walls and terraces distributed in over 250 locations, most of which were connected by major communication networks, providing a medium spatial system hierarchy major settlement or headers, and nuclei and small houses, which altogether form an elaborate spatial structure installed a rich environment in natural resources.
