Abstract

No panorama artístico da arte da talha de Lisboa e de Minas Gerais, durante o período barroco, destacaram-se dois mestres entalhadores, cujos percursos pessoais e profissionais confluíram de múltiplos modos. Santos Pacheco afirmou-se como um dos mais destacados e influentes artistas, cuja carreira, de longa duração, o elevou a ¿medidor das obras régias¿, avaliando obras de talha, arquitectura, pedraria, carpintaria, entre outras. Por sua vez, José Coelho de Noronha, formado na escola de talha de Lisboa, fará carreira de relevo no âmbito do entalhe, da escultura e da arquitectura, em Minas Gerais, local onde disseminou as coordenadas estéticas que as obras de Santos Pacheco consolidaram na capital. Partindo da análise dos entornos familiares e das obras destes dois artistas, o presente texto pretende delinear hipóteses de trabalho, que permitam uma melhor compreensão sobre as dinâmicas de influência e disseminação dos modelos de Lisboa, em terras do Brasil durante o período barroco.
During the Baroque period in Lisbon and Minas Gerais two woodcarvers stood out, as their personal and professional paths converged in multiple ways. Santos Pacheco affirmed himself as one of the most outstanding and influential artists, whose career, of long duration, elevated him to the stand of ¿medidor das obras régias¿, evaluating works of woodcarving, architecture, masonry, carpentry, among others. José Coelho de Noronha, who learned his profession in Lisbon, made a major career as a woodcarver, sculptor and architect in Minas Gerais, where he disseminated the aesthetic coordinates that the works of Santos Pacheco consolidated in the Portuguese capital. Based on the analysis of the familiar environments and the works of these two artists, the present text intends to bring up working hypotheses that allow a better understanding on the dynamics of influence and dissemination of the baroque woodcarving Lisbon models, in the lands of Brazil, during the baroque period.
