Abstract
En un contexto de globalización internacional, en el cual gran parte de las empresas llevan a cabo actividades comerciales más allá de las fronteras nacionales, resulta esencial la mediación de un especialista que establezca puentes entre países y, por ende, entre culturas. Por las características de su formación y sus conocimientos en materia de interculturalidad y de traducción especializada, tanto traductores como intérpretes se erigen, potencialmente, como una figura clave en el marco de la negociación internacional. Sin embargo, la mayoría de los planes de estudio del Grado en Traducción e Interpretación no contemplan asignaturas destinadas a la formación específica de estos profesionales, por lo que esta especialización posee una tendencia natural a plantearse una vez el discente ha culminado dichos estudios. Por otro lado, las instituciones especializadas en formación en comercio exterior únicamente abordan aspectos puramente económicos y de marketing, y toman en consideración la formación en mediación intercultural. A partir de un análisis de las necesidades formativas para este perfil profesional y de la oferta existente al respecto en los distintos grados en Traducción e Interpretación de las universidades españolas, en el presente trabajo presentamos una propuesta formativa para traductores e intérpretes dentro del ámbito del comercio exterior y la mediación lingüística. Nuestra propuesta consiste en un módulo de aprendizaje compuesto por seis bloques temáticos que tratan aspectos relativos a la internacionalización, el marketing o el derecho y se plantea, de manera abstracta, como asignatura o como módulo de contenido que podría insertarse en otra asignatura o, incluso, en un curso de posgrado. De este modo, se podrían eliminar bloques de contenido o reducir algunas de las actividades planteadas.
In an increasingly interconnected global landscape, in which a number of companies carry out business activities beyond their national borders, the role of specialists in mediation who build bridges between countries and, therefore, between cultures, has become essential. Due to the features of their training and their knowledge of intercultural communication and specialised translation, both translators and interpreters are potentially a key figure in international negotiations, bridging linguistic and cultural gaps to facilitate effective dialogue and collaboration. However, despite the critical importance of their role, most of syllabuses for the Degree in Translation and Interpreting do not include any subject aimed at the specific training of these professionals. As a result, this specialisation has a natural tendency to be considered once the student has finished his or her studies. On the other hand, institutions specialising in foreign trade training only deal with purely economic and marketing aspects and do not take into account training in intercultural mediation. Based on an analysis conducted to assess the training needs for this professional profile and to evaluate the existing offer in this field in the different degrees in Translation and Interpreting at Spanish universities, in this paper we present a training proposal tailored specifically for translators and interpreters specializing in the field of foreign trade and linguistic mediation. Our proposalconsists of a learning module made up of six distinct thematic blocks that deal with aspects related to internationalisation strategies, marketing principles or legal consideration. This module is conceived, in an abstract way, as an independent subject or as an adaptable content module that could be integrated into an existing subject or be adapted to use in a postgraduate course. This flexible approach provides the opportunity for customization, so that blocks of content can be eliminated or some of the proposed activities can be reduced.
