Abstract
There have always existed strong relationships between literature and cities. Te sculptoric paradigm established by José E. Rodo, through his essays, chronicles and critical texts can be discovered in the architectural and artistic uruguayan culture, during the first half of the twentieth century. This aesthetic construction penetrated also the political class and will therefore find real examples in urban statues and public places.
