Abstract
El presente artículo da a conocer como se inició el fenómeno de las exposiciones temporales en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla. Se abarca desde la primera apertura de la colección del Museo por petición del pintor Rafael Benjumea a exhibir obras de un artista vivo, hasta las dos grandes exposiciones de la mitad del siglo XIX, las celebradas en 1849 y 1856.
This article disclose how started the phenomenon of temporary exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville. It covers from the first opening of Museum¿s collection by request of the painter Rafael Benjumea, until the two major exhibitions of the mid-nineteenth century, celebrated in 1849 and 1856
