Abstract
This paper is an approach to violence against women in the Seville of the 17th century, on the basis of documented notarized pardons and grievances preserved in the protocols of the Provincial Historical Archive of Seville. In this context, we will first do a historiographic tour which includes the main authors who have used this type of documentation to address issues such as violence or conflict in Ancient Regime. Secondly, we will study the historical context in which the women lived, from the perspective of political power and moral literature. Thirdly, we will perform a quantitative study in which one hundred and forty-eight writings of forgiveness are classified by crime and gender.
