Abstract
The main aim of this descriptive research is focused on the way the Consumption Education cross-curricular topic is processed in the last year of Primary School, as well as recognizing the different consumption habits of these students. This study has been developed with 231 6th Year Primary Education students from different public schools in the city of Badajoz: 178 students and 53 teachers. Once the whole data has been checked and analysed, we may first conclude that there is a great deal of incoherence between the political-theoretical belief and the real task of the teaching process at school, as far as the Consumption Education is concerned.Página 71 Número 1. Año I (Junio 2014). In addition, it has also been noticed that most of the teachers involved in this research have not previously been well instructed in order to train their students about consumption habits. Obviously, we should bear in mind that the consumption topic refers to the both supporting and cross-curricular contents within the different subjects of the students' syllabus. In relation to the consumption habits of the students, it has been observed that, broadly speaking, they usually spend a lot of time in the use of technology for social communication and information. As a conclusion, we can underline the importance and the need to educate our students at an early stage in their lives in the hope of acquiring abilities which are really necessary for both their social and economical future.
