El Barroco Vivo. Descúbrelo en Ti

Abstract

Quito dedicó un mes completo en el año 2014 a recordar y vivir el barroco, no solo evocando el pasado heredado, sino desde una perspectiva actual, planteando que la esencia misma de este movimiento aun sigue viva, manifestada en las expresiones de la cotidianidad de la vida contemporánea. Las reflexiones del filósofo ecuatoriano Bolívar Echeverría sobre el tema, fueron orientadoras a la hora de los abordajes de los diversos aspectos tratados; pues en sus escritos concluye que el barroco es un ¿modo de vida¿, que funciona como ¿un refugio¿, que representa un modo de ser, una segunda naturaleza necesaria para ¿poder vivir¿ en la modernidad. Las actividades ejecutadas tuvieron la intencionalidad de provocar y retar a los diferentes grupos sociales y culturales de la ciudad, y en especial a los del centro histórico de Quito, a que se reencuentren con la memoria y redescubran que el barroco aun sigue vivo.

Quito dedicated a full month in 2014 to remember and live the baroque, not only evoking the inherited past, but from a current perspective, stating that the very essence of this movement is still alive, manifested in the expressions of everyday life actual life. The reflections of the Ecuadorian philosopher Bolivar Echeverría on the subject, were guiding in the approach of the different aspects treated; because in his writings he concludes that baroque is a "way of life", which functions as a "refuge", which represents a mode of being, a second nature necessary to "live" in modernity. The activities carried out had the intention of provoking and challenging the different social and cultural groups of the city, and especially those of the historical center of Quito, to re-encounter with the memory and rediscover that the baroque is still alive.
