Abstract
This document summarizes a series of research studies and criticisms on indigenous designs in America from the field of design, art and symbolism. This review is complemented with the presentation of the book Pre-Columbian Design in Costa Rica. Analysis of Ceramic and Stone Objects from the National Museum, published by the author of this paper and presented to the public in 2015 four times in very specific locations, among them The First Central America Living Heritage Symposium, in Sevilla. The aim of this paper is to present a critical view based on the contributions of the Central American Region compared to other similar studies on the continent. Most design and pre-Columbian art specialists provide a novel view from their fields.
