Abstract

Pedro López (1527-1597) es figura conocida en el ámbito de la historia social de la Ciudad de México, donde desarrolló una actividad en múltiples ámbitos: Universidad, hospitales, afroamericanos, etc. En estas líneas se aborda la fama de santidad que tuvo en vida: esta fama viene testimoniada por un breve pontificio, una relación de hospitales y dos cronistas dominicos.
Pedro López (1527-1597) is a well-known figure in the field of social history in Mexico City, where he carried out his activity on multiple fields: university, hospitals, African-Americans, etc. This text addresses the reputation of saint that he had in life: this reputation is attested by a Papal brief, a list of hospitals and the works of two Dominican chroniclers.
