Abstract

Echavarría, J.A. Restrepo, P. Bravo, R. Sandoval, C. Echeverri y E. Diettes.
The absent body that obsesses Colombians today is not only that of Christ, as in the foundational times of Christianity, but that of the recent wars in the country. That body that disappeared in the jaws of violence and therefore can not be buried, preventing duels from being carried out. In this context, some contemporary artists have resorted to strategies related to the ancestral cult of Catholic relics. As then, it would seem to want to conjure the absences from the most undeniable: the mute presence of the corporal detritus. So we would talk about a particular matter: body fragments that function as a sort of neo-relics used by artists like D. Salcedo, J.M. Echavarria, J.A. Restrepo, P. Bravo, R. Sandoval, C. Echeverri and E. Diettes. His works try to process collective duels in order to continue forward.
