Disturbios en las fronteras: una reflexión desde la obra de Antoni Muntadas.

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es plantear una serie de consideraciones en torno a las implicaciones culturales que traen consigo ciertas situaciones de violencia estructural en los enclaves geográficos fronterizos. Un hecho de ferviente actualidad que invita, por un lado, a reconsiderar la condición simbólica del concepto de ¿frontera¿ en un mundo tecnológico y globalizado y, por otro, a rastrear e identificar las estrategias políticas y estéticas que contribuyen a crear y fortalecer dichas situaciones. Para ello se recurrirá a algunos de los proyectos del artista Antoni Muntadas, los cuales, además de funcionar como espacios intermedios de investigación y reflexión sociológicas, utilizan precisamente los canales convencionales de manipulación y control social con el fin de subvertir la violencia habitual de los mensajes que se transmiten a través de ellos.

The aim of this work is to set a number of considerations about the cultural implications that bring with them certain situations of structural violence in the geographical frontier enclaves. A fervent actual fact that invites, on the one hand, to reconsider the symbolic condition of the concept of ¿frontier¿ in a technological and global world and, on the other hand, to trace and identify the political and aesthetic strategies that help to create and strengthen these situations. For this, we will appeal to some of the artist Antoni Muntadas projects, which, in addition to functioning as an intermediate gap of researching and sociological reflection, they precisely use the conventional channels of manipulation and social control in order to subvert the usual violence of messages that are transmitted through them.
