A Bibliotheca Lusitana publicada entre 1741 e 1759, é a concretização de um projecto biobibliográfico no Portugal de Setecentos. Diogo Barbosa Machado (1682-1772) é o responsável pela sua concretização. Produto de uma forma distinta de labor académico, fruto do seu contexto de produção, a obra pode ser útil para estudarmos, não apenas os autores, mas também as concepções de História setecentista ou reflectir sobre a concepção de autor. Tentativa de obra total, exige a participação de múltiplos académicos e instituições.
