Abstract
This paper analyzes the animated series BoJack Horseman from a sociological perspective, with the main goal of demonstrating how entertainment can serve as a powerful tool for critical reflection. Through a qualitative analysis and an extensive review of the literature, I have linked this comedic show to concepts such as alienation (Marx), liquid modernity (Bauman), and the Frankfurt School. Beneath its humorous surface, the series reveals a profound social critique of the dynamics of late capitalism. This study also highlights the underused potential of entertainment media as a means of disseminating sociological knowledge, bringing critical reflection closer to a broader audience. I argue that an inquisitive gaze and a pair of “sociological glasses” can transform popular cultural products into gateways to greater social awareness and reflection.
