La terminología anatómica en español, inglés y francés

Abstract

La importancia de la traducción de textos biosanitarios se manifiesta en el gran número de estudios dedicados a identificar las principales dificultades planteadas por este tipo de traducción y, en especial, por la terminología biosanitaria. Los compendios terminológicos normalizados (las nomenclaturas) permiten construir un discurso especializado preciso y facilitan la comunicación entre las diversas comunidades científicas; el mejor ejemplo lo constituyen las nomenclaturas anatómicas. Sin embargo, también en estas nomenclaturas son frecuentes los fenómenos de variación terminológica (sinonimia, polisemia, eponimia, etc.), lo que, desde nuestro punto de vista, supone un obstáculo añadido para la traducción de textos médicos. En este artículo nos proponemos analizar, a través de un corpus terminológico representativo, diversos tipos de variación que se producen en las nomenclaturas anatómicas en español, en inglés y en francés con respecto a la nomenclatura anatómica internacional.

The importance of translation of medical texts is reflected in the great number of studies which have been carried out in order to identify the main difficulties concerning this type of translation, and, specially, those arising from medical terminology. Standardized terminological compilations (nomenclatures) allow the creation of a precise specialized discourse, and contribute to the communication among the different scientific communities, being anatomical nomenclatures the best example of this. However, even in these nomenclatures, the terminological variation phenomena are frequent (synonymy, polysemy, eponymy, etc.), something that, in our point of view, constitute an added obstacle to the translation of medical texts. In this article we intend to analyze, by means of a representative terminological corpus, the different types of variations observed in the Spanish, English and French anatomical nomenclatures, with the international anatomical nomenclature as a point of reference.
