Huellas del barroco novohispano. Un mapa antiguo del templo parroquial de Santa Cruz y Soledad de la Ciudad de México

Abstract

El estudio de un mapa de la parroquia de Santa Cruz y Soledad, realizado en las postrimerías del siglo XVIII y localizado en el Archivo General de Indias en Sevilla, España, signatura MP-MEXICO, 362, es el objetivo del presente artículo. Este documento contiene valiosa información sobre el diseño del templo, medidas y la historia de las corrientes arquitectónicas que imperaron en el virreinato de la Nueva España a finales del siglo dieciochesco. En el mapa se pueden observar las aportaciones y transformaciones arquitectónicas consideradas por los Maestros Mayores. En este primer estudio sobre el documento, me interesa exponer la relación y las diferencias entre el diseño presentando ante las autoridades virreinales y el templo actual. Expresaré sobre el uso predominante del soporte salomónico, que corresponde a una modalidad del barroco novohispano previo a la Ilustración academicista.

The study of a map of the Parish church of Santa Cruz and Soledad, made in the late eighteenth century and located in the General Archive of the Indies in Seville, Spain, signature MP-MEXICO, 362, is the objective of this article. This document contains valuable information about the invoice of the building, measurements and the history of architectural currents that prevailed in the viceroyalty of New Spain at the end of the eighteenth century. On the map you can see the contributions and architectural transformations considered by the Elderly Masters. In this first study on the document, I am interested in exposing the relationship and differences between the design presented before the viceroyal authorities and the current temple. I will express the predominant use of the Solomonic support, which correspond to a form of Mexican Baroque prior to the Academic Enlightenment.
