Abstract
The Modern Era was the chronological framework in which many of the cities of the Hispanic Kingdoms undertook some of their most emblematic urban work, according to new humanist thought. The planning of a new water supply system would solve serious water sourcing issues while newly designed fountains would contribute to the beautification of cities as a symbol of modernity. In this study we analyze the different architectural fountain models made in Asturias during the Baroque period, in which we will generally find that Mannerist budgets extended well into the seventeenth-century.
