Abstract
Las murallas de Tarraco son la primera gran construcción ultramar de la República de Roma. Su estudio ha diferenciado dos grandes fases constructivas, la primera entre el 200 y 190 a.C. y la segunda entre el 150 y 135 a.C. Las características constructivas de las dos fases, que si bien son similares, tienen diferencias significativas. También muestra formas de construcción muy características como base de opus siliceum, paramentos de opus caementicium, rellenos constructivos de adobes, marcas de cantero o poternas de acceso.
The walls of Tarraco are the first great overseas construction of the Republic of Rome. The study of it has differentiated two large construction phases, the first between 200 and 190 BC and the second between 150 and 135 BC. The construction characteristics of the two phases, which although similar, have significant differences. It also shows very characteristic forms of construction such as opus siliceum base, opus caementicium, adobe construction fillings, stonemason’s marks or access posterns.
