Abstract
A obra do jesuíta Andrea Pozzo (1642-1709) vem
The work of Andrea Pozzo (1642-1709) is consistently recognized for disseminating a language specific to the quadratura. His treatise Perspectiva Pictorum et Architectorum (1693-1700) achieved wide circulation in the early XVIII century, as attested by its numerous editions, versions, and reproductions. Despite the little documented presence of the treatise in Portuguese America, and specifically in Minas Gerais, its influence is clearly evident in the orientation of perspective paintings. In this context, elements that denote the specific use of Pozzo's treatise are presented in various paintings made between the XVIII and XIX centuries in different regions of Minas Gerais.
