La huella del Barroco en Centroamérica: Catedral de León de Nicaragua

Abstract

El presente trabajo versa sobre la catedral de León de Nicaragua, y está estructurado en dos segmentos; el primero: una cronología basada en citas de documentos, periódicos, artículos y libros de diferentes autores, que servirá para construir una línea de tiempo que indicará etapas, hechos y actores involucrados en el surgimiento y devenir de este templo primado. En la segunda parte se mostrará una caracterización formal de la obra, presentando sus componentes, elementos y detalles, destacando aquellos que lo ubican como un edificio de tipología religiosa que manifiesta la huella del barroco iberoamericano en sus espacios.

This work deals with the cathedral of León de Nicaragua, it is structured in two segments; the first: a chronology with significant data and dates; based on citations of documents, newspapers, articles and books by different authors; this will serve as the basis for building a timeline that will indicate the stages, events and actors involved in the founding and future of the primate temple. In the second segment, a formal characterization of the building will be shown, emphasizing the components, elements and details that ascribe it as a building of religious typology within the Ibero-American baroque universe.
