Esculturas romanas del tipo Afrodita Louvre-Nápoles en el Museo Arqueológico y Etnográfico de Córdoba

Abstract

Se estudian en este trabajo dos esculturas femeninas conservadas en el Museo Arqueológico de Córdoba que, pese a su interés entre los hallazgos de la plástica romana en Hispania, no han tenido el favor que se merecen entre los investigadores. Aunque su correcta filiación al tipo estatuario, bien conocido, no presenta una gran dificultad, no deja por ello de plantear graves problemas la identificación del artista creador del prototipo, el lugar de elaboración de la estatua, el material empleado para su fabricación en su origen, su cronología y los lugares sacros donde obtuvo culto. Una síntesis de estas cuestiones son las que se pretenden abordar en las líneas siguientes.

Two female sculptures preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Cordoba are studied in this work, which, despite its interest among the findings of the plastic Roman Hispania, they have not deserved the favor among researchers. Although the correct affiliation to statuary type, well known, presents no great difficulty, nonetheless the most serious problems were try identify the prototype of the creative artist, the place of manufacture of these statues, the material used for manufacturing at source, their timing and the holy places where they earned cult. A summary of these issues are those intended to address in the following lines.
