Abstract
The three different pieces under analysis in this study –a chalice, a serving tray, and a monstrance– are the foundation for an analysis of the Salmantine religious silversmith objects from the first half of the 18th century known in Portugal that share the VILLA/RROEL mark, which is attributed to the silversmith Francisco Villarroel during his double service as silversmith and marker. The objectives aimed in the development of this work were to study the ordering process that seems to have occurred in the exemplar at the parish church of Constantim and study the collectors António Medeiros e Almeida and Francisco Barros e Sá, along with an artistic reading.
