Abstract
Internet puede ser un lugar oscuro y peligroso o una herramienta brillante y educativa para niños y adolescentes. A menudo consideramos que podemos medir sus peligros -la propaganda racista, la pornografía, el acoso cibernético o el chantaje sexual-. No obstante, deberíamos ir más allá las amenazas o de perspectivas idealistas sobre Internet. Necesitamos mejorar nuestro conocimiento sobre Internet. Deberíamos estimular un debate público sobre el futuro de la red. Las administraciones públicas y los sistemas educativos deberían promover una educación en Internet para niños y adolescentes. De esta forma, desarrollaríamos una herramienta tanto humanística como técnica que mejoraría la democracia.
The Internet can be a dark and dangerous place or a bright and educational tool for kids and teenagers. We often consider we have a measure of its dangers -the racist propaganda, the pornography, the cyberbullying or sexual blackmail-. However, we should go beyond the threats or idealist perspectives of the Internet. We need improve our knowledge of the net. We should encourage a public debate about the future of Internet. The public administrations and educative systems should promote an education in the Internet for kids and teenagers. It would be a humanistic and technical tool in order to improve democracy.
