Abstract
Panamá City prepares de 500th anniversary of foundation on August 15, 2019. Looking ahead to this date, specialists in cultural issues, and specifically in regard to urban heritage are challenged to unravel a fragmented and, in some cases forgotten, history the core of which focuses on the ruins of Panama Viejo. The archaeological remains of the first city founded on the Pacific Ocean and the capital of Castilla del Oro, are not currently included as part of the urban heritage of the modern city of the XXI century, involving: difficulty understanding the values each foundational component in the framework of the unity of the urban fabric and loss of feeling in the diachronic whole speech.
