The risk of extinction that is faced by indigenous languages in general, and particularly by the Kichwa language, is imminent. This is why it is of utmost importance that organizations, communities and families united bring this matter into light and take action before it is too late. However, in doing this, we are faced with the following issue: what should we do so as to prevent extinction? In order to stop the Kichwa language from disappearing, two main strategies may be pointed out: firstly, by working on the reconfiguration of our people¿s awareness and on their spiritual enrichening we may retrieve the linguistic pride of our language, in other words, we may recuperate the memory as well as its oral and written values. Secondly, we need to strengthen our levels of political organization; said political awareness and unity is what will definitely help us reinforce our identity, our territories and, finally, our language.
