Abstract
The educational potential of a territory’s cultural heritage can greatly impact the development of citizens into active participants in their community, members who carry a sense of belonging and who value and respect the various identities of a territory. Via a participatory diagnosis featuring students and teachers across the city of Quito, researchers investigated how school and university classrooms significantly incorporate local art and culture. The study’s main results serve as the basis for the design of a virtual tool that seeks to facilitate the cognitive and emotional accessibility of students to local art and heritage, in order to create a closer and more participatory relationship between the new generations and the local cultural sector.
