Abstract
El presente trabajo se propone realizar un análisis interpretativo en torno al fenómeno de la santidad en la literatura de la España moderna y su evolución desde el Medievo a la Modernidad. Para ello, hemos estudiado los precedentes de la tradición hagiográfica, desde los tiempos del cristianismo primitivo, hasta los antecedentes medievales manuscritos de la Legenda Aurea, y cómo el género de las vidas de santos se multiplica gracias a la labor de la imprenta. Para nuestro estudio, recurrimos a las fuentes de la época (los Flos Sanctorum y algunas vidas individua- les) para estudiar el caso concreto de la figura de san Antonio Abad, desde el siglo IV al siglo XVIII. The present work aims to carry out an interpretive analysis around the phenomenon of sanctity in the literature of Modern Spain and its evolution from the Middle Ages to Modernity. To do this, we have studied the precedents of the hagiographic tradition, from the times of primitive Christianity, to the medieval manuscript antecedents of the Legenda Aurea, and how the genre of the lives of saints is multiplied thanks to the work of the printing press. For our study, we turn to the sources of the time (the Flos Sanctorum and some individual lives) to study the specific case of the figure of Saint Anthony the Abbot, from the 4th to the 18th century. We have made an analysis of the sources in light of recent research, thus coming to understand the phenomenon within the religious and social context of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, and also understanding how the lives of saints were adapting to the tastes of the public and to the demands of the earthly power of the Catholic Church.
