El camino de los días: las representaciones rupestres del movimiento solar en Xihuingo y otros sitios del sur de Hidalgo (México).

Abstract

Desde el 2008 comenzamos un proyecto de registro y estudio de la gráfica rupestre presente en el sitio arqueológico de Tepeapulco, también conocido con el nombre de Xihuingo, así como el registro y comparación con motivos rupestres de la cultura Xajay en el sur y occidente del estado de Hidalgo, en el norte del Altiplano Central Mexicano. A partir de 2012 tuvimos la oportunidad nuevamente de realizar prospección de superficie con motivo de la construcción de la presa El Yathe donde se registraron más de una cincuentena de sitios con gráfica rupestre. Este trabajo trata acerca de estas representaciones gráficas rupestres, sus semejanzas y diferencias con otras representaciones gráficas del movimiento solar, así como su relación con las concepciones del espacio-tiempo calendárico en la Mesoamérica prehispánica.

In the year 2008 we started a project of recording and study of rock art in the archaeological site of Tepeapulco, also known by the name of Xihuingo, as well as recording and comparison with the rupestre motifs of the Xajay culture in the south and west of the state of Hidalgo, in the North Central Mexican Plateau. Furthermore, in the year 2012 we had the opportunity again to perform surface survey by reason of the construction of the dam El Yathe where more than fifty sites with rock graph were recorded. This paper discusses these parietal graphical representations, their similarities and differences with other graphic representations of solar motion and its relation to the concepts of space-time calendrical in prehispanic Mesoamerica.
