Crecimiento empresarial y corrupción: un análisis para la industria manufacturera colombiana durante el periodo 2000-2011 // Business Growth and Corruption: An Analysis for the Manufacturing Colombian Industry during the period 2000-2011

Abstract

Este trabajo muestra la relación que existe entre el crecimiento empresarial y la corrupción privada en la industria manufacturera en Colombia. Esta investigación indaga la dinámica de estas variables utilizando varias técnicas mediante la implementación de modelos empíricos: las estimaciones con datos de panel (DDP) y el modelo de datos de panel dinámicos (DPDM). La técnica (DDP) es implementada para estimar el crecimiento empresarial en la industria manufacturera utilizando como variables de decisión el capital, el empleo y el emprendimiento; igualmente se evalúa el comportamiento de las diferentes interacciones y los cambios suscitados en el crecimiento empresarial en los sectores que conforman la industria para determinar sus tendencias. El análisis de datos de panel dinámicos (DPDM) se realiza para determinar las variables que afectan el crecimiento empresarial. Las estimaciones del modelo (DDP) muestran que las variables seleccionadas para calcular el crecimiento empresarial se ajustan al marco teórico propuesto en esta investigación. El modelo de datos de panel dinámico aplicado revela que en la industria manufacturera los altos niveles de corrupción privada tienen incidencia en el crecimiento empresarial; las tendencias generales evidencian que la corrupción, sus efectos en el tiempo y sus tasas de incidencia en la industria, afectaron negativamente el crecimiento empresarial de cada sector analizado durante el periodo comprendido entre los años 2000 y 2011.------------------------------------This paper shows the relationship between business growth and private corruption in the manufacturing industry in Colombia. This study investigates the dynamics of these variables using various techniques by implementing empirical models: estimations via panel data estimates and modeling with dynamic panel data. The technique of panel data is implemented to estimate growth in the manufacturing business using capital, employment and entrepreneurship as decision variables; this also evaluates the performance of the different interactions and the changes caused in business growth in the sectors that make up the industry to identify trends. The analysis of dynamic panel data is performed to determine the variables that affect business growth. The estimation of the panel data model shows that the selected variables to calculate business growth fit with the theoretical framework proposed in this research. The dynamic panel data model applied here reveals that in manufacturing, higher levels of private corruption have an impact on business growth; overall trends show that corruption, its effects over time and incidence rates in the industry, affected negatively the business growth of each sector analyzed in the period from the year 2000 to 2011.
