For this study, the earliest portraits and engravings of her iconography have been used as primary sources; these have been confronted with the main literary sources of information about this woman: the sermon of Father Alonso de Rojas, the information process prior to her cause of beatification, and the biography written by Father Jacinto Morán de Butrón.Este estudio está dedicado a analizar el origen de la iconografía de santa Mariana de Jesús de Paredes Flores (1618-1645), también conocida como la Azucena de Quito y cómo esta fue configurada sobre los planteamientos e ideales espirituales difundidos por la Compañía de Jesús.
