Para isso, será estudado o caso da produção de tintas e vernizes, e a preparação e decoração de cuias, pelas mulheres ameríndias pintoras da região do Baixo Amazonas, sobretudo, da Aldeia de Gurupatuba, atual Monte Alegre no ParáIn order to give more visibility to the theme of the artistic activities of indigenous women in Portuguese America, this text will present a survey and an analysis of some historical accounts from the colonization period — basically, chronicles by travelers and Jesuits —, relating these documents with artistic objects existing in Portuguese collections, gathered by the naturalist Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira during his Philosophical Journey in the Amazon (1783-1792).
