Among the initiatives for its application, composite indicators have been proposed as one of the options for the management and protection of natural resources. Cuba, with the updating of its economic and social model, has progressively advanced in these aspects, but there is still a lack of knowledge necessary to promote greater involvement in the processing of environmental statistical information and work with composite indicators. In the present work, a proposal for a synthetic indicator for the evaluation of sustainability at the provincial level was made to facilitate the interpretation of the information by the stakeholders and policy makers. The construction of the synthetic indicator was carried out using a noncompensatory procedure computed by a mixed-integer linear programming model.application/pdfenAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Environmental sustainabilityComposite indicatorMCDM techniquesNon-compensatory procedureCubaRanking of the environmental sustainability of Cuban provinces using a non-compensatory multi-criteria modeljournal articleopen access
