%X Dos pinturas del Perú virreinal se encuentran enlos fondos del MUBAM (Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia), los retratos de José Antonio de Lavalle y Cortés, conde de Premio Real, y su esposa Mariana Zuasti Ortiz de Foronda. Estos fueron destacados personajes de la sociedad limeña de fines del siglo XVIII, quienes dada su fortuna y favores a la Corona española lograron situarse en la más alta esfera del poder. En este trabajo vinculamos estas obras al pintor peruano José Joaquín Bermejo, mulato y maestro mayor del arte de la pintura, quien supo reflejar a travésde la postura e indumentaria el poder social alcanzado por este matrimonio.

These portraits correspondto José Antonio de Lavalle and Cortés, Conde dePremio Real, and his wife Mariana Zuasti Ortiz deForonda, prominent figures in Limean society ofthe late eighteenth century who, given their fortune and favors to the Spanish Crown, managed to rank among the highest powers in Peru. The paintings are attributed to the Peruvian José Joaquín Bermejo, mulatto and Senior Master Painter, who was able to highlight the social power of this matrimony through the posture and clothing of those portrayed.
