AB La Vida de la visionaria María de Ajofrín (¿?-1489) se encuentra en el códice manuscrito C-III-3 (fols. 192r-231v) de la Real Biblioteca del Monasterio de El Escorial. Escrita por su confesor, Juan de Corrales, a finales del siglo XV, y copiada por fray Bonifacio Chinchón en el siglo XVI, dicho documento se presenta como fuente fundamental para aquellos autores que, tras el Concilio de Trento, deciden incluir a María de Ajofrín en sus obras. En esta contribución se abordará la reescritura que se realiza de esta Vida, incidiendo especialmente en la obra de José de Sigüenza, Historia de la Orden de San Jerónimo, y en Alonso de Villegas y su Flos Sanctorum. Mostraremos cómo se eluden los elementos conflictivos y sobrenaturales y estableceremos paralelismo con otras vidas de mujeres castellanas con fama de santidad.

NO The life of the visionary María de Ajofrín (¿?-1489) was found in the manuscript Codex C-III-3 (fols. 192r-231v) at the Real Biblioteca del Monasterio de El Escorial. Written by Juan de Corrales at the end of the XV century, and copied by Fray Bonifacio Chinchón in the 16th century, it is the main source for authors who decide to include the life of Ajofrín in their works after Trento. This article deals with the rewriting by José de Sigüenza in Historia de la Orden de San Jerónimo and Alonso de Villegas in Flos Sanctorum. I demonstrate how they elude conflicting and supernatural elements of their source and establish parallelisms with other lives of Castilian women with a reputation for holiness.
