%X El objetivo de este artículo es analizar algunas de las opiniones sobre la escultora Luisa Roldán que fueron emitidas en documentos o en publicaciones durante los siglos XVII al XIX en España. Se reúnen aquí algunas noticias contemporáneas a la artista y también de los primeros críticos del periodo Barroco y de la Ilustración. Todos ellos se interesaron por la artista desde diferentes perspectivas y los últimos procuraron, además, reunir información verídica sobre la vida y la obra de esta mujer, aunque ese objetivo no sería alcanzado hasta el siglo XX. Por último, recogemos algunos testimonios de la imagen positiva pero también fantaseada de algunos escritores románticos del siglo XIX.
%X The aim of this article is to analyse a selection of opinions expressed about the sculptor Luisa Roldán in documents and publications produced in Spain between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. It brings together contemporary accounts of the artist as well as writings by early critics and historians of the Baroque and Enlightenment periods. These authors approached Roldán’s work from different perspectives, while later writers also sought to compile accurate information about her life and artistic output—an objective that would not be fully achieved until the twentieth century. Finally, the article considers testimonies that contributed to both a positive and, at times, idealized image of the artist in the writings of nineteenth-century Romantic authors.
