AB En todas las sociedades hay personas que se alejan del género que se les asignó al nacer, otorgando diferentes significados a estas rupturas. Aunque en el Estado español la transexualidad empieza a tener más visibilidad y se ha producido un mayor reconocimiento de derechos en la última década, la realidad y las necesidades de los y las jóvenes trans* son aún poco conocidas. Este artículo está basado en 20 entrevistas realizadas a un grupo heterogéneo de jóvenes trans* procedentes de diferentes CCAA y clases sociales, que afirman que las decisiones sobre si mostrar su identidad de género, cómo y cuándo hacerlo, están mediadas por el impacto y reconocimiento que pueden obtener de sus entornos inmediatos. Son jóvenes capaces de identificar sus necesidades, señalando importantes dificultades en áreas clave como la escuela, la familia y el empleo, lo cual les lleva a "gestionar" constantemente cómo mostrar su identidad y tener que calcular el impacto de sus decisiones sobre los procesos de transición, emancipación y formación de redes.
AB In every society there are people who have moved away from thegender they were assigned at birth, providing different meanings to these ruptures. Even though in the last decade transgenderism in Spain has become more visible, and has achieved a greater recognition of legal rights, the realities and needs of trans* youth are scarcely known. This article is based on 20 interviews conducted with a heterogenous group of trans* youth from different regions and social classes. They state that their decisions regarding the disclosure of their gender identity, and how and when to do it, are mediated by the impact and recognition that they can obtain from their most immediate networks.
