AB Jean Baudoin, polygraphe et traducteur abondant, s'intéressa très tôt à la culture et à lalangue espagnole. En 1638-1639, il publie leRecueil d'Emblemes divers, dans lequel il réunitdes sources nombreuses et les met bout à boutpour créer la glose de ses emblèmes. Dans lapréface de cet ouvrage, Baudoin cite les auteursdont il s'est inspiré afin de créer son propre recueil, Sebastián de Covarrubias y figure en bonne place. Cette étude souligne d'abord la proximité entre les deux ouvrages et notamment les fins édificatrices des auteurs qui confèrent une portée éthico-politique à leurs recueils d'emblèmes. La seconde partie de cet article vise à comprendre la façon dont Baudoin utilise les Emblemas morales et les adapte afin de les inclure dans ses propres emblèmes.
AB Jean Baudoin, polygraph and abundant translator, became interested in Spanish culture and language very early on. In 1638-1639, he publishes the Recueil d'emblemes divers, in which he gathers numerous sources and assembles them to create his gloss of emblems. In the preface to this book, Baudoin quotes the authors from whom he got his inspiration to create his own collection, among them listingSebastián de Covarrubias as an important figure.This study highlights the proximity between the two books and, in particular, the edification purposes of the two authors which add an ethical-political dimension to their collections of emblems. The second part of this article aims to understand how Baudoin uses the Emblemas morales (Moral Emblems) and adapts them to include them in his own emblems.
