AB Sevilla fue por años cabecera de la flota de India, con el consiguiente aporte material y humano. Desde ella, pues, se forjaron redes que conectaron con las poblaciones de ultramar. Vinculándose a esa construcción no sólo numerosos navegantes, sino también miembros de la iglesia. Y en el caso de la construcción del vínculo con Filipinas se han podido identificar importantes personalidades no sólo pertenecientes a la marina, sino también gente de iglesia. En el presente estudio abordo el caso de tres de ellos navegantes, que tuvieron una notoria actividad a mediados del XVII. Y también una virtuosa religiosa que se hizo cargo de fundar el primer convento de clarisas en Manila. Todos ellos participaron, de un modo u otro de ese flujo intercontinental.

NO Seville was the head of the Indies fleet for years, with the consequent material and human contribution. From there, networks were forged that connected with overseas populations. Not only numerous sailors but also members of the church were linked to this construction. In constructing the link with the Philippines, it has been possible to identify important personalities not only belonging to the navy but also people from the church. In the present study, I address the case of three of them—navigators who were very active in the mid-17th century. And also a virtuous nun who founded the first convent of Poor Clares in Manila. All of them participated, in one way or another, in that intercontinental flow.
