AB L’articolo si concentra sugli aspetti iconografici dei gioielli devozionali realizzati negli anni immediatamente successivi al Concilio di Trento. Lo scopo è quello di analizzare le nuove iconografie visibili su questi oggetti in relazione con il clima religioso, per ricavarne informazioni sulla percezione dell’identità cattolica in un periodo di dispute religiose tra cattolici e protestanti.Il contributo si concentra soprattutto sulla caduta in disuso della commistione tra iconografie sacre e tematiche secolari; sui cambiamenti riguardanti tecniche e materiali utilizzati nei monili; sulle iconografie inedite come la rappresentazione di san Carlo Borromeo e quella del Santissimo Sacramento.
AB This article discusses iconographic features of devotional jewelry, and is focused in particular on jewelry realized immediately after the Council of Trent. This historical period was characterized by religious controversies between Catholic and Protestant people. The aim of this study is to analyze these new iconographies in relation to the religious context, in order to obtain new information on perception of Catholic identity.The essay focuses on the vanishing of combinations between sacred iconographies and secular themes. It also discusses changes in materials and crafting techniques, and unprecedented iconographies, such as representations of Carlo Borromeo and of the Blessed Sacrament.
