AB Entre los múltiples asuntos planteados por laHistoria del Arte, la liberalidad de la pintura ocupa actualmente un papel destacado en el ámbito investigador. Dicha cuestión es abordada mediante el empleo de fuentes auxiliares recogidas en la literatura artística, que facilitan un conocimiento preciso sobre la evolución de las formas plásticas y la consideración de los artistas en centros culturales concretos. Partiendo de las premisas anteriores, este trabajo tiene como objetivo trazar una panorámica sobre la nobleza del arte pictóricoen Lima durante el Barroco, complementandolas noticias teóricas con el análisis de dos autorretratos, uno de ellos atribuido, correspondientes a maestros locales que habían asimilado la liberalidad de su profesión: Francisco Escobar (act. 1649-1676) y Cristóbal Lozano (1705-1776).
AB Among the multiple subjects tackled by Art History, the liberality of painting occupies an important role in the research field. This issue is addressed by the use of supporting sources found in artistic literature, which provide specific knowledge regarding the evolution of visual form and the artists' consideration in concrete cultural centres. Based on these premises, this study's aim is to provide an overview on the nobility in pictorial art in Lima during the Baroque period, complementing theoretical approaches with the analysis of self-portraits corresponding to local masters who had adopted the liberality of their profession: Francisco Escobar (act. 1649-1676) and Cristóbal Lozano (1705-1776).
