AB El presente trabajo examina uno de los prototipos más difundidos en el arteandaluz decimonónico: la “ociosa elegante”. Se trata de una mujer pertenecientea la clase media-alta supuestamente de carácter desganado, vanidosa ydesconsiderada que puede incluso resultar un peligro para el entorno familiary para la sociedad en general. Sin embargo, serán estas mujeres frivolizadassocialmente las que, a finales de siglo, empiecen a buscar su autonomía a travésde diversos cauces, todo ello en el contexto misógino propio del siglo XIX. Paraello se analizan una serie de obras en las que se reproducen estas escenasprototípicas, centrándose principalmente en la moda del momento, al ser unelemento contundente a la hora de reflejar el estatus económico femenino.
AB This article examines one of the most widespread prototypes in nineteenth-century Andalusian art: the “elegant idler.” This depicts an upper-middle-class woman, supposedly lazy, vain, and inconsiderate, who can even pose a danger to her family and society at large. However, it was these socially trivialized women who, at the end of the century, began to seek autonomy through various channels, all within the misogynistic context of the nineteenth century. To this end, we analyze a series of pieces that reproduce these prototypical scenes, focusingprimarily on current fashions, as they were a powerful element in reflecting women’s economic status.
