AB La novela de la tierra ha sido fundamental en la literatura quebequense del siglo XX. Si este género literario ha sido frecuentemente estudiado desde el punto de vista de la identidad francocanadiense, es necesario destacar también el interés de analizar estas novelas desde una perspectiva de género. En este estudio, propondremos una manera de abordar en el aula universitaria el análisis de algunos fragmentos de distintas novelas de la tierra quebequenses, con el fin de llevar a cabo con los estudiantes una reflexión sobre este género tradicional y sobre las reescrituras que algunas autoras han hecho. La figura de la madre, sobre todo, silenciada por la tradición, nos permitirá observar la imagen de la mujer que estas novelas transmitían. Veremos cómo las escritoras utilizarán esta forma canónica con el fin de cuestionar ese ideal femenino y de mostrar otra realidad. Observaremos cómo sus textos ponen de manifiesto los estereotipos limitados que han definido tradicionalmente a la mujer y la necesidad de superar esos modelos tan arraigados en la sociedad. El análisis de los personajes femeninos, y particularmente de la figura materna, la observación de la compleja relación entre la madre y la hija que revelan estas novelas, permitirá a los estudiantes comprender mejor no sólo la evolución que se ha producido en la historia literaria de Quebec, sino también cómo distintas autoras han intentado subvertir los modelos patriarcales tradicionales. Incluir la perspectiva de género en el aula nos parece fundamental para fomentar la reflexión del alumnado y para animarle a cuestionar los estereotipos tradicionales.
AB The novel of the land has been central to twentieth-century Québécois literature. While this literary genre has often been studied from the point of view of French-Canadian identity, it is also worth noting the interest of analysing these novels from a gender perspective. The aim of this study is to propose a way of approaching, in the university classroom, the analysis of some fragments of different novels of the land. We will carry out with the students a reflection on this traditional genre and on the rewritings that some female authors have made. The figure of the mother, silenced by tradition, will particularly allow us to observe the image of women conveyed by these novels. We will see how women writers used this canonical form in order to question this feminine ideal and to show another reality. Their texts highlight the limited stereotypes that have traditionally defined women and the need to overcome these models so deeply rooted in society. The analysis of the female characters, and particularly of the mother figure, the observation of the complex relationship between mother and daughter revealed in these novels, will allow students to better understand not only the evolution that has taken place in Quebec’s literary history, but also how and why different female authors have tried to subvert traditional patriarchal models. We believe that including a gender perspective in the classroom is essential to foster reflection and to encourage students to question traditionalstereotypes.
