RT Journal Article T1 Elements of gamification and new technologies in the service of modern didactics: teaching German as a foreign language for translation and interpretation T2 Элементы геймификации и новые технологии на службе современной дидактики: обучение немецкому языку как иностранному для письменного и устного перевода A1 Koreneva, Olga K1 Gamification K1 New technologies K1 Didactics K1 German as a foreign language K1 Written and oral translation AB The digital age and the era of accelerated technological progress are witnessingsignificant changes in all branches of sciences. Modern didactics alsorequires a constant adaptation of methodologies as well as the implementationof the latest advances in cognitive sciences, such as neurodidactics andexperimental neurolinguistics, or machine translation or artificial intelligencemechanisms (ChatGPT, Google translator, Deepl, etc.). Especially youngpeople need modern approaches in learning. Growing up in a digital worldand educated partly on video games, the new generation is more than readyto put modern technologies into practice in education. The frequent spendingof young people in virtual space and social networks makes it necessary to includeelements of gamification and simulation of reality in the methodologyof education for more visible practice. This approach is in line with the postulatesof embodied learning (embodied learning — Shapiro & Stolz, 2019;Grein, 2021). This learning methodology motivates students and offers experiencessuch as: self-experience, being-in-the-real-world, which they areso used to in everyday life as well. In this article we will discuss new possibilitiesof incorporating this didactic approach and new technologies into themethodology of foreign language teaching for future translators, whose fieldof work is characterised by the need for direct practical application of acquiredknowledge, preferably already at the initial stage of training. Incorporatinggamification elements into teaching methodology is a great advantage for didacticsand can be applied in any of its fields.
