AB El fenómeno del comercio de contrabando forma parte de la historia del Caribe. El presente artículo nos muestra las implicaciones que tuvo éste en la ciudad-puerto de Cartagena de Indias en los siglos XVI y XVII. Este artículo indica dónde encontrar fuentes históricas y algunas valoraciones conceptuales como herramientas para comprender las dinámicas comerciales de un puerto que en este tiempo fue central en las relaciones mercantiles de la región.The occurrence of commercial contraband is part of Caribbean History. The present article is about the implications of contraband in the city port of Cartagena de Indias in the XVI and XVII centuries. It indicates where to find historical records and some related theoretical tools in order to understand the commercial dynamics created by this activity, in this city so crucial to the commerce of the region.
